Array

my first attempt at using the array option is copying a tea pot from the standard shapes with editing the x axis incrementation

Bool

i created a box, and the letter A, which was positioned in the center of the box, followed by extending the letter to make a 3d shape, then using the bool tool  on the box to cut the a into the box.

lathe

first i created a line on illustrator to be the center of my object on layer one, then locked layer one and on layer 2 drew half the shape for a pawn to the right of the line with the pen tool. i deleted the line and imported the image into 3d max studio. i moved the pivot point to theleft of the object where the line was so that it will be in the center of the shape. then used the lathe tool which basically rotates the image around the pivot point to create a 3d image.

i then repeated this process to create a wineglass
looking at the wineglass the container section is oversized, which makes it look more like a goblet than a wineglass.

Fruit Bowl

the second object that i have created is a fruit bowl containing an appale and a bannana. the bowl was simplest because with a sphere and soft selection i could squish the top of the shere inside itself, to create the bowl. this was also used to a lesser extent for the top and bottom of the apple. i selected some of the faces on the apple to distort the shape adding bumps and squishing some sides to hive a more life like effect. the banna and apple stalk are cylinders, but the bannana only has 5 sides to mimic the peel away skin. i selected the lower face of the stalks cylinder and decreased the x and y axix with a fallout of 20 to create more of a cone shape, then bended this to finish the skalk. the banna was very similar to the stalk, exept for the use of bevel effect to crate the top of the banna.

Whitehouse

the first object that i have created using 3d max studio is the architecture of the whitehouse. i found this simple to do bevause there are a selection of standard shapes available. because i have used multiple copies of the same image for the pilars & windows i held the "shift" key, then draged them across one axis to select the distance between each object. this brought up the copying screen which allowed me to chose how many copies i wanted to create of the object, because i used this all of the pilars & windows are equal distances appart. the roof ontop of the pillars is actually a cylinder which i edited the number for sides to 3 in order to make an extended triangle.

The Brief

i have no expierience with 3d studio max software, i am excited to be learning how to use this new software through the tutorials to eventually create one of leonardo Da Vinci's Machines.
